Our 70s Icon: Charlotte Rampling
Charlotte Rampling, 69 and queen of chic since the 70s. She has featured in over a hundred films, marked by her 40 year career and has been idolised by so many as a sartorial influence. In Rampling’s conversation with Harper’s Bazaar she stated, “You can dress up to be quite glorious creatures - it’s all a very important part of life” and we think she looks just that. Now Rampling says she has found her look - the men’s suit, carrying it better than anyone we know. As an inspiration to our Autumn/Winter collection, let’s take a journey through our favourite Rampling looks…
This one gets us every time. The clashing prints in this 70s Ossie Clark number is everything we would want and more in our autumn wardrobe. The soft flounces that drape delicately in this bohemian feel dress, have most definitely made a comeback this Autumn/Winter.
Crochet lace delicate dress, feminine and full of detail that is simply stunning. With pin tucking on the sleeves, embroidery around the neck - every attention to detail has been considered.
I’m sure it’s no secret to anyone that the 70s mini is back, but didn’t Rampling carry this off well… I love the addition of the roll neck to this outfit, layering for this season seems the perfect option.
This wrap front dress with bellowing sleeves shows the feminine figure beautifully - simple and effortless.
And finally, this classic image shows Rampling looking sexy and elegant in a velvet suit. The look she found to be most comfortable in, the men’s suit.
