Our Design Story: Bohème
This post is about ‘Bohème’ - the French word for Bohemian and the inspiration for our AW15/16 collection.
The word itself geographically comes from Bohemia - a region in Czech Republic. Influences by regional cultures from Poland, Moravia and Austria have meant this trend is full of history. The trade route from Europe and Asia called the Silk Road has meant the influence of Morocco and India is an inspiration to this trend. Embroideries, tassels, flounces, gathers, floral prints and paisley accents, dress the garments beautifully; every detail considered. Colours of deep aubergine, berries, golden tones that are softened by warm coppers are all moulded together in a collection of high waisted, relaxed shapes and volume full pieces are key elements to any 70s inspired boho collection.
The Olsen Twins, Kate Moss and Nicole Richie have all brought their interpretation to the trend and have made this effortless look a must-have staple – all reminiscent of our 70s icons; Charlotte Rampling, Jane Birkin and Carly Simon.
The romantic era of freedom, free love, musicians and liberalism has led our designers to work through and develop a collection full of historical influence. The rich colour schemes picked from 70s inspired moodboards of rich tones, to revisit and modernise the aura of boho chic. Entwined within the palettes our print designers have developed artworks that have meant we have been able to mix and match prints within our exquisitely cut signature Ghost silhouettes.
